Few things on Earth are as miraculous and vital as seeds. Worshipped and treasured since the dawn of humankind.

SEED: The Untold Story follows passionate seed keepers protecting our 12,000 year-old food legacy. In the last century, 94% of our seed varieties have disappeared. As biotech chemical companies control the majority of our seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers, and indigenous seed keepers fight a David and Goliath battle to defend the future of our food.

In a harrowing and heartening story, these reluctant heroes rekindle a lost connection to our most treasured resource and revive a culture connected to seeds.

The first poster exhibition is planned for the Station Waiting Rooms next March and it will feature local breeds of dogs: Border Terriers, Border Collies, Trail Hounds and Dandie Dinmonts, along with a selection of Haltwhistle mutts. We are having a second meeting to look at initial research, funding requirements, printing deadlines etc. on Weds 15th Nov at 5pm in the Old Booking Hall on Haltwhistle Station. You are invited to an evening of debate to examine how communities can become more resilient, tackling this important issue from a fresh perspective.

Societies across the world are living through a period of significant uncertainty and change caused at least in part through global influences such as climate change, emerging technologies (some good some bad), security threats, political instability and financial crises to name but a few. It is therefore an opportune time to consider ways in which rural communities like ours could potentially become more resilient and thus better placed to survive and thrive through the 21st Century and beyond.

The evening will be highly interactive, and will include an exercise called, "Worldview Carousel", where you and your neighbours will discover the predominant worldviews in our society today, and which worldviews could lead to greater resilience in a rural community like Brampton. The results of this exercise will be used to guide the subsequent discussion. We will explore:

What's the definition of a resilient community?
Where is there a community that improved resilience and how did they do it?
When we disagree on how to achieve a resilient community, how do we then regain alignment?
Discussion of issues arising and next steps…

The evening will be chaired by me, Tim Coombe, and the analysis will be led by Christopher and Sheila Cooke - together they support individuals, families and groups to begin the process of change in their own lives.
